New Legislation being Introduce Alert!
A new ordinance, Section 2-18-2, is being proposed to manage flag raisings and the placement of monuments in our city. This ordinance is designed to ensure that our practices align with the principles established in the Shurtleff v. City of Boston decision. Importantly, it specifies that the city cannot be sued under this ordinance, as it sets clear guidelines for City Hall to follow, previously determined by the Mayor in the absence of formal policy.
